Lao Valley Needle & Cruising

Day12-Title-Loa-Valley

Our last full day in Maui…. We  started our day at the Lao Valley Needle, famous for gracing postcards all over Maui and a sacred for the Hawaiians. The dense forest had a history behind them: the needle like peaks were a lookout point for the warriors during wars. Interesting!! Currently, it a popular tourist destination and travelers come to enjoy the trail along with the amazing view of the needle like peaks. The weather was moist and cloudy which totally enhanced the beauty of these beautiful peaks. We walked by the Lau Valley Stream reminiscing our beautiful vacation to the islands of Hawaii. Our vacation was ending the next day and to be honest, we were not looking back to go back to Minnesota.

The Road to Heaven: Hana (Maui)

Day10-Hana-Title

Ah Maui…. I had always dreamed about visiting Maui. It was one of the place to visit in my bucket list (I was just so happy that I had just crossed off O’ahu from that list 😉 ). This island was just as beautiful as the other islands that we had visited in past few days.. may be more. The blue ocean water sights were back again. Big Island had a lot of greenery but Maui was a combination of water and green. Road to Hana was a terrific drive… It somewhat reminded me of the drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara in Nepal. The road was so narrow and curvy. Google “Road to Hana” and you will know what I am talking about. I was so scared as we started our drive but I knew I was in good hands.  Hubby had plenty of experience driving on these kind of road :) so…. lucky me, I got to sit back and enjoy the lovely view while we drove and  take pictures of course <3  Read more

Snorkelling fun at Kona

Day7-Kona-Title

This day was one of the favorite day of our trip to Hawaii. After a relaxing morning breakfast at the resort, we headed to the City of Refuge towards Puuhonua O Hanaunau National Historic Park. The park had some historic site and overlooked the Honaunau Bay. We saw some very interesting Polynesian culture and various Ki’i (carved wooden images) along with housing of the ancestors who had dwelled their in the past. The locals considered this place sacred and till today, they still believed that the spirit of peace surrounds this park. While we visited this park, we found out that Honaunau Beach which was right across of the park was one of the famous beach for snorkelling. Hubby was super excited. The bay was beautiful and we were all set for our snorkelling expedition.
