Into the Arches
Arches National Park was one crazy experience! We (Mr Husband, his cousin/my sis-in-law and myself) were heading out to Moab as a day trip but spontaneously we decided on going there at night (to see the stars and galaxy was our motto).
We headed there from Salt Lake City which was around 4 hours’ drive and by the time we got there it was pitch dark, but we were so determined to see the night sky we decided to hike towards the Arches (which was about an hour hike from the parking area). We carried some lights and water as we hiked our way towards the Arches. On our way, we saw the beautiful view of the star and galaxy and would just glaze at such a close and clear view. We were super excited to see the stars through the beautiful arch. But after hiking for almost 2 hour, we realized that we were lost (in the middle of desert/ruins). It was so hot and we were running out of water! Like I mentioned, pitch black and no water…It was terrifying! Three of us were holding on to each other while we tried to find the trail back towards the parking lot or any signs of the Arch that we were walking towards. We would find downhill or forest while we wandered around but no signs of the trail. With the night being so dark (it was no moon day), we were not even aware which direction we were heading to. There was no phone service so GPS wouldn’t work too! We saw some people walking on a far distance and screamed for help. Yes, we were terrified by then! But those people were too far from us and couldn’t direct us as it was so dark. But they did head out saying that they would get help. We decided that we would wait for help and we tried to rest but couldn’t hold still because of the mosquito noise buzzing around us. We decided to keep on moving!
Finally after so much of looking around and climbing uphill and downhill and wandering for around 4 hours, we found the trail and we couldn’t express the happiness as we got back to our car and then to the hotel. It was one crazy night! Scared to death and a memory we will never forget!! Lesson Learnt!
Next morning, we set for a fresh hike towards the Delicate Arch and on our way up to the Arch, we were just snickering over last night’s experience and confessing on how we were scared but still tried to play strong! What a night! Since the sun was already out, the hike was quite stiff than we had imagined. Imagine hiking while the temperature is 100 degrees (F) in sandy ruins… After couple quick rest stops, we finally made it to the Delicate Arch and it was beyond doubt worth all the hard work! The Delicate Arch looked astonishing and welcomed us with fresh breeze! I urge that it is an unquestionably must for anyone looking to travel to Utah. This art of nature is definitely a must vision for any traveler.

Yay to a successful day hiking and getting to the Arches finally!
We were having such a great time in Utah and my hubby’s birthday weekend was absolutely a blast already! Stay tuned for forthcoming posts as we head our way to Zion’ National Park and Vegas!
Tip for any future traveler, if you plan on doing a night hike, make sure you go there during the day before you plan for a night hike! It is always a good idea to know the landscape before jumping into the trail! But again, LIFE IS EITHER A DARING ADVENTURE OR NOTHING!
Love,
Mash
